Netscape
có thể nói là trình duyệt web đầu tiên trên thế giới, mạnh mẽ và tùy
biến. Sau 1 thời gian dài vắng bóng, thời gian mà trình duyệt Firefox,
1 trình duyệt dựa trên lõi của Netscape lên ngôi, thì bây giờ Netscape
đã trở lại với phiên bản 9, đánh dấu 1 bước tiến mới trong cộng đồng
các trình duyệt hiện nay.
Như đã nói ở trên, Firefox có nguồn gốc sâu xa từ Netscape, dù hiện
nay nó đã phát triển ở mức độ hoàn toàn khác, cho nên bản Netscape mới
này có các chức năng khá tương đồng, nếu không muốn nói là gần như hoàn
toàn, giống với Firefox. Nếu bạn xem phần Help, sẽ thấy ghi là
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.8pre)
Gecko/20071019 Firefox/2.0.0.8 Navigator/9.0.0.1, có nghĩa chúng là anh
em ruột với nhau.
Vậy thì điểm khác biệt của chúng là gì? Tạm thời hiện nay đó chỉ là
1 chút chỉnh sửa về giao diện để mang phong cách Netscape, và thêm chức
năng Linkpad giúp bạn lưu trữ các địa chỉ web tạm thời để duyệt sau
này. Ngoài ra phần menu Tools cũng có đôi chút khác biệt. Đây có lẽ là
điểm mở đầu cho 1 thế hệ trình duyệt tiếp theo.
